Lord Jesus Christ, Head of your church,

I thank you that by your Spirit you have given good gifts to your church for the building up of your body. I thank you that you have apportioned to each of your people gifts as you have willed, and that you have not left me without something to give. I thank you that the works I am called to are not works I must invent, but good works which the Father has prepared in advance for me to walk in.

Show me what you have given. Show me where you are calling me to go. Where you have given gifts that have not yet been fanned into flame, give me the courage to step forward, to seek the counsel of mature believers, and to submit to the prayer and laying on of hands by your appointed leaders. Where I have mistaken my own desire for your call, give me humility to receive correction. Keep me from pride in what is given, and from envy of what others have received.

Above all, grow in me the fruit of your Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control — so that whatever I do may be done in love and may build up your people.

Use me, Lord, in the place where you have planted me. May the gifts you have given serve the good works you have prepared. And may my life, my home, and my service be the means by which Christ is made known.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

(Ephesians 3:20–21)

Well done — you have finished.

Congratulations on completing the self-assessment. This is a real and worthwhile step, and the Lord who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. Stay strong in the faith, keep your eyes on Christ, and run the good race set before you — “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1–2). The gifts are His; the works are prepared; the calling is sure. Now walk it out, one faithful step at a time.
