Your information, handled with care

Privacy Policy

How Sonrise Revival collects, uses, protects, and shares personal information. This policy is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Effective 27 June 2026.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how the Sonrise Revival platform (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles the personal information of everyone who uses it — individuals walking the assessment, families, elders, and churches. By creating an account you confirm that you have read and agree to this policy.

2. The information we collect

We collect only what we need to provide the service:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and the password handling provided by our authentication partner.
  • Affiliation information — the family, church, or eldership you belong to, and your role (member, family owner, elder).
  • Assessment content — your questionnaire answers, results, reflections, journals, calling declarations, and confirmations. This is sensitive information (see section 5).
  • Contact details (elders and some members) — where you choose to provide them, a phone number, town, or address, so an eldership can reach you.
  • Payment information — for paid subscriptions, billing is handled by our payment partner (Stripe); we do not store your full card number.
  • Technical information — basic, aggregate usage data (such as page views) that does not identify you personally.

3. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you create an account, complete the assessment, set up a family or church, or contact us. We also receive limited information when someone invites you (for example, an elder or family member sending you an invitation by email), and from our service providers in the course of running the platform.

4. Why we collect it and how we use it

  • To give you the assessment, save your progress, and show your results.
  • To enable the sharing you choose — for example, letting your household or your eldership see your confirmed gifts and calling.
  • To operate families, churches, and elderships, including invitations and aggregate planning views.
  • To manage subscriptions, billing, and account support.
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent misuse, and meet our legal obligations.
  • To understand, at an aggregate level, how the platform is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private assessment content for advertising.

5. Sensitive information and your consent

Your spiritual-gifts assessment answers, results, reflections, and calling are treated as sensitive information. They are private to you by default. Nothing is shared with your household or your eldership unless you give specific, opt-in consent, and you can withdraw that consent at any time. When you do consent to share with an eldership, only your confirmed top gifts and declared calling are shared — never your private journals, couple or courtship comparisons, or your individual questionnaire answers.

6. When we disclose information

We disclose personal information only:

  • To people you have chosen to share with — your household, or your church’s eldership, by your explicit consent.
  • To service providers who help us run the platform (authentication, secure database hosting, payment processing, website hosting, email and SMS delivery), under agreements that limit their use of the information to providing those services.
  • Where required or authorised by law.

Overseas disclosure. Some of our service providers store or process data on servers located outside Australia (including in the United States). Where this occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

7. Who at Sonrise Revival can see your information

To run and support the service, Sonrise Revival operators can access account-level information — your name, email address, and your church or family affiliation — and aggregate, non-identifying statistics about how the platform is used. Operators do not access your private assessment content — your individual gift results, reflections, journals, or calling — for browsing or analysis; those remain private to you and to anyone you have explicitly chosen to share them with. Access by operators is limited to what is reasonably necessary to provide, secure, and support the platform.

8. Children and young people

Anyone under 18 takes part only as a member of a family account, and a parent or guardian must give consent before a minor completes a survey or shares any information. A minor’s contact details are suppressed by design and are never shown to an eldership. We will align our handling of children’s information with the Children’s Online Privacy Code as it comes into effect.

9. How we keep information secure

We use reputable service providers and take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Sharing within the platform is consent-based and revocable, and member information shown to elders is read-only and cannot be exported.

10. Accessing, correcting, or deleting your information

You can view and update much of your information directly in your account. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within a reasonable period, and will let you know if we are unable to act on a request and why.

11. Cookies and analytics

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the platform, together with privacy-preserving, aggregate analytics that measure overall usage (such as page views) without identifying you personally.

12. Automated processing

The assessment scores your answers automatically to produce a result. This is a discernment aid to help you reflect — it is not a decision that determines your rights, your standing, or your role. Your results are always meant to be weighed in prayer and in conversation with trusted believers and your church’s leaders.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us (section 15) and we will work with you to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a material change we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, ask you to review and agree to the updated policy.

15. Contact us

For any privacy question or request, please reach us through our contact page. We will direct your enquiry to the person responsible for privacy at Sonrise Revival.
